Cedar House Residential Care Home
Community

‘Care homes should be seen as an asset in community life, with gardens, space and residents with skills and heritage and that can be shared locally.’

Our care home is a community in its own right

Cedar House care home is a community in its own right, but it is also part of a larger community locally and internationally.

We have a local Brownies, pre-school (Sidney Shakers), nursery group (Lilliput Nursery), several schools and outdoor learning centres visiting our home. The young people are taking part and running activities with the residents as well as joining in group meetings and sharing what they are learning with the residents, family and friends.

We are also working with local projects, learning centres, colleges and universities to encourage young people to come into care homes on work experience placements. We are engaging with students on health, social, personal care, personal development, and activities.

We support local charities through fundraisers, businesses and suppliers (from food to performers) plus local attractions, venues and practitioners.

We also contribute to our local magazine monthly giving an insight into the life of the home and its adventures.

Our residents also stay in touch with family and friends internationally through social media.

A community is what you make it!
